YONEX ARCSABER 7 PRO: Control made easy
Briefly on the history, the YONEX ARCSABER SERIES was first launched in 2007 with the ARCSABER 7 and since then has a tradition of over 15 years. It was followed by the ARCSABER 10 and finally in 2013 the legendary ARCSABER 11. The concept behind it, a racket with absolute control and excellent stroke precision, which many pro players have taken advantage of over the years.
Since 2021, YONEX applies the "innovation concept" in which the most successful rackets of the YONEX series, among others, in the variants: Play, Team, Tour and Pro for every type of player in all price ranges are available. Now also with the new YONEX ARCSABER 7 PRO, we are excited.
The design and racket head size of the ARCSABER 7 PRO is identical to that of the ARCSABER 11 PRO. However, it scores visually in its radiant primary colors of yellow-gray matte, which makes the ARCSABER 7 PRO look very sporty and dynamic, especially with yellow or black strings.
Unlike the ARCSABER 11 PRO, the ARCSABER 7 PRO does not have the Control Assist Bumper at the top of the frame's head, making it even less top-heavy.
The Super Slim Shaft used is the thinnest shaft YONEX has ever made. It reduces drag while generating maximum "whip" effect.
Unlike the ARCSABER 11 PRO's shaft, which is rated "stiff," the ARCSABER 7 PRO's shaft is rated "medium."
We strung our test racquets in the 4U/G5 specification (80-84g) with the new YONEX EXBOLT 65 in the colors: black, white and yellow with 24.5 lbs each.
But now we come to the practical test: the evaluation was again in the categories "handling", "feel / ball control", "power" and "forgives inaccurate hitting", all on a scale from 1 star (hardly applies) to 5 stars (fully applies).
The YONEX ARCSABER 7 PRO has its very own character and requires the highest discipline in the category "forgives inaccurate hitting", which our testers did not always bring along: 3.5 stars
In the "handling" rating, the testers from the BADLAB test team all agreed that the lightweight, well-balanced ARCSABER 7 PRO is extremely maneuverable, which is particularly noticeable in a quick defensive movement. Without ifs and buts: 4.5 stars
Good handling often comes at the expense of "power for long clears and hard smashes" - not so with the ARCSABER 7 PRO. Especially players with a not so mature hitting technique are very effectively supported here by the whip effect of the Super Slim Shaft. Accordingly, our testers gave the ARCSABER 7 PRO an above-average positive rating in this discipline: 4.0 stars.
As expected, the ARCSABER 7 PRO scores almost full marks in its supreme discipline "feel and ball control". Here, the ARCSABER 7 PRO is beyond reproach: 4.5 stars.
Overall verdict of the BADLAB racket team: A tradition continues. It became indisputably clear in our test that the ARCSABER 7 PRO promises what the Arcsaber series stands for: balanced sporty with finest control and outstanding stroke precision, of course "Made in Japan". Three of the testers from the "BADminton LABoratory" actually switched to the ARCSABER 7 PRO after the test. We recommend this well-balanced top all-round racquet to advanced recreational and tournament players whose focus is on control in doubles and mixed - and who appreciate the shoulder-friendly character of the ARCSABER 7 PRO
